Life at 27 or 28!

You are 27 or 28 right? It is very tough to live at that age. When nothing is sure. I have sympathy with you. -Murakami

The Girl - part II

To the girl

who keeps me on the shore!

who connects me to the dream, to the reality!

for whom I searched, waited and surrendered,

for whom I want the desires!

whom I desire,

at whose moods I am a clown, a king and a statue!

who dwells in the concious reality,

who is deviod of the vanity,

who is humble and victim of others vanity.

I'll serve thee!

in service ,

your's humble J!

In praise of idleness!!

Its been lived between the thoughts that make us act and thoughts that just break as waves upon the shore of consciousness! Some thoughts create! Some are like tsunami causing havoc! then there are some like a hot air blowing in the desert! The ones that make us act originate from the wants of time! D

D Traveller : Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Of little stools, little people, onedies and wannbe youth!

Realizations category : General

-- All my trips start with an excel sheet. To be exact, excel sheet ( my bread and butter for a fact!), named as Book1.xlsx with 4 columns as Date of arrival, Name of place, What to do, Date of departure. To fill the mentioned columns I often do endless "googling" of images, and less often I trust Wikipedia!Once these columns are sensibly filled I save the excel sheet as Itinerary.xlsx
-- I trust and am ardent follower of "luxuriously convenient" style. No matter if I have to pay extra in exchange of hassle free planning and execution.
-- Only way I know to "explore" a city , country, or place is by walking the labyrinth of streets, drinking coffee or tea at cheapest of roadside coffee shops! and eating food from "thellas"
-- When I try to speak Vietnamese its hilarious! I like to think that the way I pronounce Vietnamese is equivalent of Charlie Chaplin's costume in "The Tramp"! a bundle of contradictions! (Over size shoes with tight cap!baggy pants with tight shirt! )
-- I like the freedom to spit! After careful thought I realized that though i don't spit often on roads, I feel good that I don't do it to keep India clean! but when you make a rule against spitting ( like in western countries I think)I am robbed of that feeling - "of doing some good"! And hence I like that in India we have freedom to spit, urinate and throw garbage on roads!
- I wonder we have cameras to capture the moods and colors of a city but what of its unique smell? its sounds? be it a slow thuds of the waves hitting a boat or an early morning prayer? or a silent traffic? what of sweet smell of fried wantons ?
-- Don't judge! Don't budge! Just purge! (people! beliefs! prejudices!)

Realizations category : Food

- Vietnam is a land of gastronomic delight , Vietnamese can make exotic dishes out of boiled water and boiled vegetables to stimulate every single taste bud of yours!
- Vietnam is where you feel coriander leaf is exotic !
- Order egg noodles in Vietnam - they'll break the egg into boiled water which makes your noodle soup! So if you don't like your egg like that just beware!
- Do try - Cao lầu & Phở!

Realizations category : Vietnamese people

-- Vietnamese are ingeniously efficient at whatever they do!!
-- Vietnamese are creepy! they kept asking me - "Are you single? how old are you? when do you marry? Any girlfriend?" whereever I went!
-- I hate Vietnamese people as they are so content in life that its almost insulting to me! its like they were mocking me!
-- They are crazy to the core. I saw couple of guys, in domestic flight wearing helmet. And there is dearth of people wearing the masks ( of the chicken flu fame)
- Vietnameese are wierd -- they drink coffee and green tea at the same time!
- Vietnameese are crude and unforgiving when comes to bargaining!

Realizations category : Vietnam as a country

-- Vietnam is similar to India to some extent like -Trains sound same as in India, Vietnameese don't use the tissue paper, but to some extent they are different too --Vietnam has left hand drive, Vietnameese they don't sound horn as often as we Indians do, though they have even crazier traffic.
-- Vietnamese women run more small businesses then Vietnamese men - like Restaurants,Cobbler shops,Jewellery shops, Retail shops!
-- Vietnamese track time of London, New york, Tokyo and Paris! You'll see in hotels and bars - 5 wall clocks, one each for the above mentioned cities and one for Hanoi!Tells loads about their foreign policy!

Glimpse!

Its definitely a day to laugh!! :D

I got the glimpse of how thoughts , ideas wishes and wants are all tangled up in a matrix of wants wishes and thoughts of all of US.
For things to happen few things have to untangle! - I think I got a glimpse of "karma theory"

My only modification is its the karma of this life you need worry about! because its the karma of this life you'll have to pay for - in this very same life!

EGO

Whats an ego without principles!?

At times I feel I dont need an ego. I'll be better off and much more efficient person w/o an Ego, but then I meet people who dont care an iota about others, they are motivated by their own selfish desires!

Now my question is do I bring my gigantic ego out of its resting place! And show them my Eccentric egoistic soul! Show them how dangerous and harmful I can be for them!

But then I think is that the solution - my ego vs their ego? I keep quite and I go in my "maun mode"! just lettting the thoughts ,anger and other emotions pass by! let them run over me! Suddenly I relize the only urge i have left is the need to make other people realize their folly! Question is -- is it possible for a person utterly blinded by the his/her own ego to realize that he/she did something wrong!

I think the Ans is just do what you always do!

Fuck'em!

Article: "for the people, of the people, from the people" -a long lost thought!

Most of the problems, or shams, or deceptions arise out of Money! If not, then out of desire to possess power!

The premise is that the elite educated class knows about what is going on in "this" country (for that matter in any country) is the result of “few” individuals who have the above stated desires -- absolute power or "more" money! Now the question is how can we make it apparent to the masses to be able to differentiate between those “few” and the rest , as the masses are the ones who choose candidates, who bear the responsibility of running (or ruining) the country. To quote Frank Herbert - "The machinery of the government is always subordinate to the will of those who administer that machinery. The most important element of government, therefore, is the method of choosing leaders."

To bring about the change (i.e. to reduce corruption, bring more efficiency, reduce public exploitation) we need to start somewhere and it will be easier to start from the “top”, i.e. to put the right people in right posts. I tend to agree with Plato’s vision of philosophers being the guardians - the leaders. However, I beg to differ from Plato that I don’t consider the ethical standards, he upholds, important. I believe in cheating those who cheat, in beating those who beat, and in looting those who loot.

I believe that if a change has to be brought about it has to be a product of two simultaneous movements -- one, at the bottom and, the other, at the top. The bottom heap of the population is already frustrated and we just need to equip them. And at the top, we need to find a better way to get “better” people.

In the current scenario the “change” initiated from the top will percolate rather easily than if initiated at the bottom. Gone are the days of Gandhi as we don't have unity for one cause any more - we don't have a collective frustration. The population is divided as there are loads who suffer and few who care and very few who are ready to act and still very few who have means to act.

Now the question is how to bring about that change – I suggest that we cheat the system! By cheating the system, I mean that we use the existing system and manipulate it for our cause; in the same way the people in power do! In an ideal situation there is no need to cheat, but ours is neither an ideal situation nor an ideal system. Our system runs based on perceptions and not on the basis of facts! When I say "system" I refer to people who constitute the system! People who have authority!

Cheating the system is essential. Firstly, the people who are responsible for the present situation (i.e. pushing a common man towards the attitude of “chalta hai”) will try their level best to resist a social change, which weakens “their” hold and makes “them” accountable, they'll use all their power to make sure that there is no way a rule or regulation is created to allow this. Secondly, there is no point in creating one more regulation which can be passed and then blatantly violated. So simply cheat the existing system!!

"They" the party candidates cheat. Distributing alcohol and money during election time is a well known, accepted fact! We see it, but still we ignore it! From a layman's view he should definitely vote for a candidate who can at least provid him alcohol or money during elections. Short term gain is certainly better when we know that the long term does not hold any promise!

“What -to-do” is known. The question now is “How to do it?” - How to cheat the system? I propose a few guidelines here. Though these are ideal guidelines and in a way can be labeled as “Utopian” i.e. in the sense not possible! But I guess we need to start somewhere and it’s always good to start from certain ideal and then tweak it as we may see fit.

1) Educate the masses about the electoral candidates**, without attraction untoward attention from the ruling class. There is a mandate by the election commission on the same, but national parties have found a way around it.
2) More and more “educated” people should join “the cause” in whichever way possible. Like creating a uproar in every possible way about each small misdeed about each small fault
3) Pick up a social cause and adhere to solving it with tenacity, even if that cause affects only 2 people
4) Help the masses in identifying the local heroes who stand for the cause. It does not matter, if these local heroes belong to a particular political party, as long as they are genuine in their dedication to the social cause. (For this solution to work we need to work on solution 1 in tandem)

These are very broad guidelines and a common theme which is running across them is of a mass movement of the intellectuals of this country demanding and being the change which is long due.

In addition to the above route corporate India can be leveraged. Profit is good with a little extra caution and care for the “Aam Admi”. It’s not about the Corporate Social responsibility (which is a fake activity). They have to get involved in much more meaningful way and at the same time not hitting the bottom-line in the long run. Instead of pouring money on CSR activities, which most of the time are gauged by the useless KPI of man-hours, they can channel the money in creating funds for the education of needy children or run a local school. More important from giving money they can induce the culture of accountability and calibrating success in the system.

** Who is fighting, and for what cause. Facts are rendered useless in the hustle bustle of the propaganda of the people in power! What remains is just the perception. If we study the “history” of a specific person we can easily distinguish between the perceptions created and the “true facts” about the person.

Wisdom -- thats fine, but are you willing to grow up?

D -- I am a grown up! I do what I want!

Wisdom -- Grown up? nope! Are you willing to grow up?

D -- What do you mean? I am not growing?

Wisdom -- When was the last time you saw yourself in someone else?
Not saw what you want, not what you need, not what you dont like,
not what you want to be, but what you dont want to be!

Ennui

Lately I have noticed that the best of days and the worst of days don't matter any more!

Lately I notice :
I use to enjoy going out but now I sit all day long in my room engrossed in a book. I use to enjoy reading philosophy but now I enjoy Fantasy!
I use to love whiskey or Vodka but I have fallen for beer!
I use to think I can change few lives now I think I have changed allot!
I use to dream but I have given up on some!
I use to wear Jeans to office but nowadays I wear cotton pant to office !
I use to work late and hard but now I work only when absolutely required!
I use to have feeling of getting the job done but it seems feeling has given space to feeling of jealousy !
I use to think I was learning the worldly ways but now I think I have had enough!

I wish I get to meet Meursault, I need to ask how he managed it ? How?
I wish I get to meet Goldmund, I need to ask how he managed to ignore other perspectives? How?
I wish I get to meet Gertrude, I need to ask how was she so sure that it is Red! How?
I wish I get to meet Rand!

Laws of attraction

People whom i genereally admire are not the people who have all the time in the world for me, but the people who have to make time, for me, out of their daily schedule.
