D Traveller : Mangalore and beyond!

Part II -- Driving!Lazing!Pondering! in Mangalore

The Travelogue!

As always, all my trips start at Office. So, this time, this day i.e 20th Nov I start at 9:00 AM towards office,on Outer ring road, with the resolve to finish all my work by 8:30 PM and come back to my house,in BTM, by 9:00 PM then pack my gear, and have grub, and leave for Majestic to catch bus, at 11:00 PM, for Mangalore.

And as always what happened --

9:25 PM - Me having a conversation with my manager about what I understood, from certain vendor, about calculation of share of preference and what my manager understood and how both the "understandings" are not identical. Me sitting upright on chair, half on it and other half in air, in kinda of posture suggesting that I am some how just managing to control very very urgent nature's call.

9:45 PM - Me on my bike, actually Deepak's, and riding as if my ass on fire zing! zang! zoooom! no truck,no car ,no pothole, nothing mattered but just consistent speed of 70 KM/hr in Bangalore traffic. Ofcourse barring traffic signals.

10:15 PM - Me packing my bag running down the stairs for Auto

10:50 PM - Me in Volvo towards Mangalore. Phew!!

But I guess, in retrospect, the run was all its worth! Mangalore was amazing! A city born in antiquity, matured in parts, developed in other parts, young at heart, birth place of major banks, counted among major port cities of India, leader in private entrepreneurship, center for pilgrimage and of course a ideal place to relax for buggers like us on amazingly serene, impossibly virgin beaches.

City has a laid back feeling to it at the first sight, but the humdrum starts to unfold as you move little away from city center towards Suratkal.Where you find loads and loads of trailers moving with loads of timber, Malaysian wood called as Pincoda, and other raw materials or may be finished products from one of many industries present in Mangalore. To name a few KIOCL, MCF Ltd. ,Ultra Tech cement.

work in progress!
