Project Snehasadan
Mentorship Program for the kids ( at Snehasadan)
What have we been doing from past 4 months --
We a group of seven people have been going to Snehasadan every Sunday for 3 hrs and spending time with kids. What we do in these 3 hrs is teach them or play with them.
We have divided children in 2 categories - class 8th+ and below class 8th
Class 7th and below
We teach them basic communication English and other activities like Drawing,Painting.
Class 8th and above
Subjects ( based on their school curriculum) that we teach them are Maths,Hindi and Social Science.
Problems that we are facing are --
1) Communication - For most of kids Kanada is their mother tongue and we have one member in our group who can speak Kanada, which makes it difficult at times to explain them certain concepts e.g Scholarship or Shatrvritti.
2) Group of 7 people to come regularly is at times is not possible though we try our level best that atleast 3-5 of us are present at Snehasadan. As regularl contact with the kids is the only way we can have everlasting effect on them.
3) Teaching is an art and not all of us can do that. Yeah we can do that in our own ways and that is important.Kids have been just pushed to next standard and their basics are not clear so to teach them their school curriculum is at times frustrating.
Possible solutions --
1) If we can have few volunteers who have Kanada as their mother tongue
2) If we can have few more volunteers join in this initiative we can do round robin kind of setting where in we have to devote 2 weekends(3 hrs every Sunday) a month and we can maintain the regularity in terms of contact with the kids.
3) We are working on this initiative to find a tutor for class 8th and above who can work with the kids on regular basis (i.e 3-4 days a week). Who can take care of School curriculum to boost their ( kids) score in exams which will result in building their confidence level that they can learn ,they can study, they can be somebody in life.
You are most welcome to volunteer for painting, drawing, reading books to them, play with them or anything you are good at and want to share it with the kids.
Aim is to broaden their horizons and make them aware of different perspectives to look at things.

Scenario: My mom walking past a line of beggars, sitting on roadside. She,gripped by sudden emotion of "Dan" or you can call it "Daya Bhav" or just feeling of "pity" or feeling of "self - selfishness" (read it as self minus selfishness), decides to give five rupees to a beggar. She gives Rs 5 to a beggar.
Aftermath: Swarm of beggars ( minus the one who just got Rs 5) surround my mother. She starts to run saying "don't touch me" followed by "hato hato" followed by "don't touch me". But the beggars knew(by experience) that they can bank on the emotion of "Dan" or the "Daya Bhav" or the feeling of "pity". Finally after good 5 mins Mom yielded to persistence of the beggars.
She gave another 10 rupees ( I think so ! I don't remember but yeah it was bigger denomination then before) but this time with the feeling of maybe " Leave-me-alone" or "go-go-take-it-but-don't come-back" or thinking that solution to the problem was to give last time and escape.
Take away -
Taker* - Gets his Money.
Giver* - Looses the basic emotion by which he/she started off!
So, If you can't give all the time or to all then always be careful to whom and in front of whom you give.
Takers always want something and other Takers will always follow the suit .Takers always gain in the end.
Givers always loose the emotion of "Dan" or the "Daya Bhav" or the feeling of "pity" in the end.
* for all people jo bhawanao ko nahin samjhte hai --
Taker here means one who receives anything bole tho beggar in case example shared above.
Giver means one who gives bole tho my Mom in case example shared above.

Analysis cum Take away counter
Few days ago I read few articles on Balochistan Issue, between India and Pakistan, based on different perspectives i.e Pro India and Pro Pakistan. Then I researched and thought. :P
---------------------
Though we don't hear much about Balochistan in newspapers today, but in fact this region has been having problems since time of Independence ( i.e 1947). Issue being - Baloch Sardars ,native Balochs, struggling for autonomy against Pakistan government. Pakistan wont allow this as Balochistan,an immense desert , has huge quantities of natural gas and unexplored oil reserves and is the largest Pakistani province in terms of area, covering almost 48 per cent of the country. Balochistan is also rich in uranium and copper, it accounts for less than 4% of Pakistan's 173 million population.
Another perspective is to look at the issue is American interest in the region . Pipeline war between IPI and TAPI. IPI is the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline(Iranian to Pakistani Balochistan). TAPI is US-backed Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India pipeline (western Afghanistan via Herat and to Kandahar and Gwadar). Gwadar port , considered to be new Dubai, is the key. Gwadar port developed my Chinese on turnkey basis, is important for China for oil supply from Iran. Cause of concern for USA is that Chinese may turn Gwadar into naval base jeopardizing US interests in the region. So if Balochistan is unstable US profits from it on both fronts i.e. on pipeline issue and the strategic issue, related to China.
So, in short Iran, India,China,USA and Pakistan all are involved in some way or the other in Balochistan issue.
The recent issue is centered around Pakistan blaming RAW, India's intelligence agency, for promoting terrorist activities in the region. Maybe to take heat off the November attack.
The point that I want to make is when so many forces are at interplay and I read articles about our MP's arguing and slashing and blaming Dr. Singh for his response , given at Sharm-El-Shaikh, I feel they are just politically motivated to charge on him for each and every thing he does**. I say we'll never know what is happening in Balochistan as we are not in the thick of things.
So , I think about what should be the most basic issue we should be thinking about - Baloch people. But as always no mention of them , mango people as always squeezed. Its always about cui bono? its always about whats in it for me?
One issue ( Balochistan) - Entities driving their own interests (using the issue) -- BJP for making political agenda to demean Dr. Singh ( though loose connect i.e Balochistan - Pakistan statement at Sharm-El-Shaikh) ,Pakistan to take heat off November attacks,US for pipelines and rivalry against China, Iran,China and Me( for writing a blog to say
" Use every opportunity to make your point or to make a gain" :p)
**( As for the foreign policy, my take is if to stabilize the region,Balochistan, we have to discuss it with Pakistan why not ? as in the end if pipeline is constructed , assuming Balochistan is stabilized, India will be benefited.)

Palatable, delectable & Yummy
Who the fuck cares what you say! the thing which matters is already in your stomach. But the fact that there are so many synonyms and antonyms led me to think that why do we need so many words to describe a feeling, place, artifact etc.
What matters is the moment of experience! But again I remember reading George Orwell's 1984
and how language can be used to restrict the range of one's thoughts. Or what if you have a thought but you dont know the words to describe it!!
Then I think, not every condition/feeling can be put into words. A classic example: In law, how do you define who is insane and who is not? defendants pleading " not guilty by reason of insanity" where do you draw the line?
Then I think, why do we percieve same things so differently! A story may convey some meaning to me ,some other meaning to you and totally other meaning which author had in his mind. General example Frank Kafka's Metamorphosis!
Then I think about Roshomon effect! how an event can introduce different perceptions among people!
Then I eat thin crust Pizza !!

Bangalore Chapter!
One
A days visit to this beautiful city ( the adjective* beautiful here describes the feeling on that day) of gardens. I was awwed by Bangalore's weather.
Visit was primarily because of the reason which always comes in our life at least once when "reasons tend to fly away". I, relying on my unreasonable reasons, took an overnight bus from Chennai; ditching my classes and project , to Bangalore!!
And here I am, still in Bangalore!
Two
Next time I came, I was here for 2 months. This time around there was more reasonable reason for my visit. I got a chance to work in JFWTC, GE as an intern. I added few more adjectives for this awesome city!
Stay was filled with activity - trek, eat outs, night long parties, bakar sessions, pubs, movies and of course how can I forget Patent Analysis.
It was during my tenure at GE that I started to smoke more than 4 cigarettes a day, courtesy Faggu!! Damn Faggu!!
Three
I landed up with a job, in Bangalore, with a software firm Sterling Commerce.
This chapter is etched in my memory for many reasons, but root of all reasons was one. It was a time of parties ,night long talks, innumerable auto rides, movies, restaurants.
This time I experienced a specific kind of disorder! called as girl-in-your-life syndrome. But as I always say every experience is a chance to learn and let me assure you I learned.I learned about my likes and dislikes. It sounds trivial and it is trivial.
Four
Still in Bangalore! but with a feeling that Bangalore chapter of my life is about to end.
Its time for beginning of a new end!
And yeah! adjectives which describe Bangalore now are -- Frustrating(at times), Sucks( wrt Traffic!), Terrific( roads during night time).

Project Snehasadan!
Basic Nature of a human being doesn't change*! True! So don't try to change it.
Only thing you can do for a human being is to help him realize what he wants out of himself!! And this we always do either intentionally or unintentionally!!
______________
Nature, of a human being. how do you define it?
Altruistic,Selfish,Money minded,Competitive,Hard worker,Cribber( I mean who cribs alot :p), Happy-go-lucky,I-give-a-damn,Fast learner etc..
Nature,of a human being. what develops it?
The circumstances faced by the person, in his formative years and right now.
(As humans we have tendency to learn (all the time) that's why we have respective Natures, only problem is most of us don't know that we can learn, and what we are learning.)
Can you change the basic nature of a human being!
Circumstances define the nature and circumstances can force human beings to use that very basic nature to scale greater heights( definition of greater heights is a personal thing, as in it varies from person to person. What is great for me can be totally trivial for you) in life.
e.g A guy,due to troublesome childhood , is hot headed by his very nature. You cant change his nature from being hot-headed to cool-headed guy but what you can do is force him to control his anger and put it to some constructive use.
Then what stops people to scale greater heights?
Greater heights is what gives you satisfaction and keeps you going. What stops people is The Fear, it comes in many varieties.
So I say --
Only thing you can do for a human being is to help him realize what he wants out of himself!! And this we always do either intentionally or unintentionally!!
* Most important assumption : Nature we develop has a specific use in our respective lives. We should know when to cash the cheque. How to cash is not important as in thats in your nature.
